What We Do

Over time, schools have budget fluctuations that can lead to reductions in the quality of education for the children they serve. The goal of the TEACh Foundation is to build a permanent endowment that will continue to grow and provide an enduring income to benefit the children of the San Luis Coastal Unified School District.

By providing grants, the TEACh Foundation endowment is used in all schools throughout the district to develop and strengthen opportunities for our children to realize their full intellectual, creative, physical, emotional and social potential.

We all agree that the Central Coast is a very special place, and our excellent schools are a large part of the high quality of life enjoyed by residents in the communities of Avila Beach, San Luis Obispo, Los Osos, and Morro Bay.

Our schools constantly rank among the highest in state and national academic testing. An extraordinarily high number of our high school students graduate with eligibility for the University of California and California State University systems. At the same time, students in vocational and agricultural programs regularly earn top awards in national and statewide competitions.

Funded by a permanent endowment fund, TEACh Foundation mini-grants are distributed annually to employees of the SLCUSD through a formal grant application process. To be a grant recipient, applicants must demonstrate that the funds will be used to develop and strengthen opportunities for students, helping them to realize their full intellectual, physical, creative, emotional and social potential.

TEACh Foundation grants are awarded in the areas of:

• Reading, Language Arts & Literacy
• Math & Science
• Music, Drama & the Arts
• Social Science
• Student Health Services
• Physical Education
• Youth Activities & Community Service

TEACh Foundation does NOT compete with existing PTAs and high school booster clubs in their fund-raising activities. The board recognizes that parents already support their children's schools through many PTA and Booster fund-raisers each year. Consequently, the TEACh Foundation seeks to raise funds through avenues not currently used by PTAs and Booster Clubs. These avenues include donations through:

• Corporate donations
